Here are 5 facts you probably didn't know about How To Train Your Dragon.
#1 Early designs show that Toothless was originally going to be small and green. Which would be similar to how he was portrayed in the book by Cressida Cowell. But apparently an employee's computer screen of a black leopard inspired a more dark and feline appearance instead.
#2 Hiccups age is never mentioned in the movie however it is said he is meant to be about 14 or 15 years old.
#3 Originally the film was intended to end without Hiccup being injured. However, the directors felt that a monster like the Red Death Dragon could not be defeated without great cost. The the story was then changed so that Hiccup would lose part of his left leg. Which also created a deliberate parallel to how Toothless lost his left tail fin.
#4 There is a 5 year time gap between How to Train Your Dragon and How to Train Your Dragon 2 during this time gap Hiccup has suposably grown to be around 6 feet tall and is around 20 years old.
#5 Valka was originally written as the villain, but this idea was dropped in later drafts.
